Information Management, a division of University of Washington Information Technology (UW-IT) that develops and supports enterprise business applications for the University, is currently seeking a Test Lead to own test design and test implementation for MyPlan project.
The MyPlan project is broadly aimed at improving the tools and information students use to navigate the UW's curricular offerings and plan their academic career at the UW. Working within a larger cross-functional project team, the Test Lead will work closely with business analysts and developers to identify and prioritize potential failure points and design tests accordingly. The Test Lead is a professional experienced in testing designs and strategies and will possess the full range of knowledge of software development lifecycle practices and methods.
Working within a Lean/Agile project framework, the Test Lead will work in a rapid-paced environment, and is responsible for defining acceptance criteria before development begins and defining a process to ensure those criteria are met before functionality is considered "done."
This position requires a self-starter with excellent analytical, technical, organizational, and communication skills to facilitate the definition and prioritization of test approaches.
Functions include:
- Develop and enforce testing standards
- Establish and maintain test libraries
- Conduct hands-on testing for MyPlan and related projects, independently, with MyPlan personnel and/or end-users
- Develop and promote production readiness and review processes
- Develop and drive adoption of change control processes
- Other responsibilities include advising on and assist with testing related issues or problems; producing and maintaining testing information.
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Science, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent experience.
Minimum Work Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years software test design and execution experience and 1 year of working on a software development team.
- Familiarity with automated testing practices and software testing applications.
- Experience working in a Lean and/or Agile development environment.
- Experience coordinating or managing software application implementation projects.
- Excellent analytical and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated excellent skills for client and interpersonal interaction as well as written & verbal communication.
- Tool friendly and team player attitudes.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience working as a Business Analyst, gathering and defining business requirements.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Desired:
- Experience working in a Lean and/or Agile development environment, TDD, ATDD, table-drive requirements, or other similar methodology.
- Experience with User Centered Design methodologies.
- Experience working in higher education, working with student information systems, or within student administration.
- Programming and scripting skills.
- Experience producing automated test scripts and tools.
